Plain-English summary: Mendly is a free iOS app. We don't ask you to sign in. We send your photo to our server only to analyse it and show you a repair plan — we don't keep the photo. We use Firebase for crash reports and basic analytics. We include affiliate links to Amazon. That's it.

1. Who we are
Mendly ("we", "us") publishes the iOS app Mendly: AI Repair Guide and the website mendlyai.app. For privacy questions, contact legal@mendlyai.app.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Photos you choose to analyse
When you take a photo or pick one from your library to get a repair plan, the photo is uploaded over an encrypted connection to our analysis server. We use the photo only to generate that single repair plan and we delete it from our server immediately afterwards. We do not store your photos, do not train any model on them, and do not share them with third parties for marketing.
The repair plan itself (text only — no photo) is saved on your device so you can revisit it. You can delete any saved plan at any time inside the app.
2.2 Optional notes you add
If you type a note when describing the problem, that note is sent with the photo for analysis and is treated the same way. Don't include personal information in notes — Mendly doesn't need it to help you.
2.3 Diagnostic and analytics data
We use Firebase Crashlytics to learn when the app crashes, and Firebase Analytics to understand which screens people use. This data is automatically collected and includes:
- Crash logs (stack traces, device model, iOS version)
- Performance metrics (app start time, screen render time)
- Usage events (e.g. "scan started", "report shown") — never the contents of your photos or plans
- A device-level identifier (Identifier for Vendor / IDFV) — not the advertising identifier
We do not use Apple's IDFA for advertising tracking. Mendly does not show ads.
2.4 What we do not collect
- Your name, email, phone number, or address (we don't ask you to sign in).
- Your contacts, calendar, microphone, or location.
- Health data, financial data, or browsing history.
3. How we use it
We use the data described above to:
- Generate the repair plan you asked for (Section 2.1 / 2.2).
- Find and fix bugs (crash logs).
- Understand which features people use, so we can improve the app (analytics).
- Comply with our legal obligations.
We do not sell your data. We do not use your data to build advertising profiles.
4. Who we share it with
We work with a small number of service providers ("processors") who help us run the app:
- OpenAI — when you submit a photo for analysis, we send it to OpenAI's image-understanding API to generate the repair plan. OpenAI processes the photo only to return that result and (per their API policy) does not use API inputs to train their models. See openai.com/policies/api-data-usage-policies.
- Google (Firebase) — Crashlytics and Analytics, hosted by Google. See firebase.google.com/support/privacy.
- Amazon — when you tap a "Buy at Amazon" link, you leave Mendly and arrive on Amazon's site, where Amazon's own privacy policy applies. We don't share your data with Amazon; we only earn a small commission if you complete a qualifying purchase. See our Affiliate Disclosure.
5. How long we keep it
- Photos: deleted from our analysis server within minutes of the request.
- Server logs: kept for up to 7 days for security and debugging, then deleted.
- Crash and analytics data: retained by Firebase for the periods described in Firebase's documentation (typically 14 months for analytics events).
- Saved repair plans: stored only on your device. They live as long as you keep them; they're deleted when you remove the plan or uninstall the app.
6. Your rights (GDPR / CCPA)
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Know what personal data we hold about you.
- Request a copy of that data.
- Request that we correct or delete it.
- Object to our processing of it, or restrict that processing.
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Because Mendly doesn't ask you to sign in, the personal data we hold about you is limited to what's described above. To exercise any of these rights, email legal@mendlyai.app from the device or account you'd like to discuss. We respond within 30 days.
If you live in California: we do not "sell" personal information as defined by the CCPA. We do not "share" personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising.
7. Children
Mendly is rated 4+ and is suitable for general audiences, but it isn't directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has shared information with us, contact legal@mendlyai.app and we'll remove it.
8. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, surface a notice in the app before the changes take effect. Continued use of Mendly after a change means you accept the updated policy.
